[19] itching to get my hands on a gizmo

a gadget. a doohickey, of sorts.

something analog that i can use for day to day life.

an mp3 is a good choice. mp3s are always cool, no matter what the year. last week-ish, this cute secondhand hello kitty mp3 player that's officially licensed by sanrio just went on sale. with a huge price drop!! and let me tell you, i was SO close to buying it...

listing in question... look how cute it is...

but!! i wanted to be smart with my money. really weighed out the pros and cons here... in fact, here's the list i ended up making!!

pros

cons

so yeah, won't buy the hello kitty thingy. darn. a bit of a shame letting that one go, but i had to be the practical adult here. not gonna lie, i NEARLY got it on impulse. so this is a very smart move for me and i am proud of myself.

but still!! i wanted to own a new thing. shamefully, this is just me itching to spend LOL. in my defense, i rarely own anything and the things i do have, i try to cherish the best i can. so anyway, here's a clever list of things i've considered buying!

a vintage digicam

could be cute. i knew a japan surplus that's a few rides away. henry's sells really cheap ones in a bin. thing is though, they're all untested. and i'd have to gamble or buy batteries beforehand to see if any ones in the Camera Bin worked. also, i barely know anything about photography, and nothing in my life is interesting enough to warrant a picture of it. maybe? i rarely go outside...

an ereader

gosh these are so expensive. and the non-amazon ones are a bigger hole in my wallet. ouch... a few months ago, i repurposed my 12 year old ipad mini so that i can use it to read ebooks. apart from strange battery issues, it still works. and even THEN with the battery, i can last hours of reading on this thing still, so i have no need to replace it. ereaders are nice though, and i want to be gifted one... one day... ... ...

a smartwatch

no thanks. i already have a... smartwatch. i guess.

well, it's a tamagotchi watch.

and it tells the time while being super cute. i couldn't ask for anything more. maybe.

a tamagotchi

taking care of kids is hard. i like the tamagotchi smart (i english patched mine), since it's low maintenance as it already is. even then, i accidentally kill them when i get TOO busy for days... still, it's less work than keeping other models...

i am quite fond of tamagotchi, and they have been a huge interest of mine!! i have the rare english release of the iDL anyway so if i start to miss the actual thing, i can just boot up that one again!!

a handheld fan

summer is here, and it is boiling everyone alive. i am one of the few people who still don't have those chargeable, portable fans. well again, i rarely go out—so it's usually no issue. and i'll just use those fans you flap around yourself, thank you very much. i don't mind. if it's really bad, i'll just borrow my older brother's fan.

well, what DO you want???

my search for a gizmo nearly came to a stop... perhaps... it truly wasn't meant to be, and i should Really not impulse spend on money on things...

oh what the fuck retro handhelds were a thing???

i have NO clue how i stumbled upon this. and honestly, i shouldn't be surprised that something like THIS exists: an emulation handheld that can run all sorts of consoles... up until around the psp era. even then, it can still run a few psp games with some ... compromises. still, that already gives you a huge selection of games to choose from!!

i am talking about the anbernic rg35xx family of consoles!!

i genuinely didn't know these existed, so i got SUPER excited aaa... so excited, that i ended up buying one second hand AND the person was kind enough to ship it on the same day (well, not purely out of kindness since they were busy with work any other day).

so all my searching got me an anbernic rg35xx h!! which i promptly got a new operating system on (i opted for muos for all the customization, but now i'm hearing some stuff about their dreamcast emulation... i'll figure that out at some point...). anyway, i spent the day yesterday trying to customize it!! i'm looking to play klonoa real soon :)

and funnily enough!! this thing has a music player and an ebook reader!! i just think it's funny how it ticked 2 on my list here, even though i won't use the console for that purpose haha..

overall, i am super happy!! i'm taking things one at a time, so i'd like to finish this book i'm reading first. but after that, i am going straight into gamer town babyy
